Sheerface Training creates vibrant, high quality and accessible new media training for practitioners and learners across Scotland.

We have now launched our 2010 training programme.

We have delivered training to adults and young people in youth clubs, adult literacies partnerships, prisons, youth offender institutions, refugee and asylum seeker units, credit unions, theatre groups, schools, housing associations, homeless projects and a multitude of agencies dealing with the most vulnerable and disengaged.

Our approach is to lead practice and support the creation of learning environments that challenge, excite and thrill. We plan out training to offer a memorable and powerful learning experience. We aim to unleash learners artistic potential and nurture creativity to produce the most profound movies, animation, cartoons, blogs, engaging forums, visual evaluations, attractive reports, visual maps, digital stories, radio broadcasts, recorded songs, websites, reflective diaries and drama productions.

We use technology and creative ideas to act as a hook and allow the development of core skills including literacy, employability, problem solving, communication skills, self esteem, team work and so on. We don’t just teach how to use new media or creative tools but explore ways to make it relevant in the educational context.

We aim for your investment to make a serious and long-term impact through developing more effective practice. In order to do this our approach is targeted on building capacity, not just meeting short term training needs. Our training is very flexible and we have the expertise to build on what skills and experience workers and learners already have.

Organisations do not need lots of equipment or technical expertise. We will take complete beginners, fix broken equipment, work with limited resources and support organisation to make the very best of the resources, skills and time that they have available.

Following full step by step instructions from our experienced trainers, plenty of time in workshops for hands on practical experience and a supply of high quality resources, participants on our training programmes feel empowered to start to implement learning straight away.

Our training takes participants on a journey to discover how to use technology and/or creative techniques that are easy to use, quick to adapt, free or cheap to implement, simple to maintain and can be cascaded and sustained long term.

We support participants to play and and even pull apart our workshops so that they leave inspired and refreshed and with a thorough understanding of what is going to work best for them, how to get started in their own community and how to problem solve any challenges that arise.

Our trainers are respected for their innovative practice and remain practitioners in their field. They ooze passion, enthusiasm, are full of practical tips, fresh ideas and a genuine commitment to good learning and teaching practice.

Along side our training workshops , Sheerface Support offers organisations help to set up, develop and run dynamic education and participation programmes which enthuse all those who connect to them, helping them to discover their own potential and inspire their own learning.

We have a good knowledge and working relationships with key funder in Scotland and would be happy when required to work with you to access funding to help pay for the services we can provide.

We are very excited about the range of learning and teaching opportunities that we are able to over this year and we hope that you will be too. Sheerface_Training_files/Sheerface%20training%202010%20rs.pdfshapeimage_1_link_0
